Best in Show. Worst possible timing. Best in Murder by Lauren Carr A Mac Faraday Mystery A platinum-and-diamond collar vanishes at the Mid-Atlantic Classic. Two women connected to the show are dead. A champion Irish Wolfhound is missing. And Gnarly is loose in a hotel full of perfectly groomed egos. The After World: a novel Review Available in paperback (love this editions cover) 5 stars What a bleak, awesome, creative, masterful, apocalyptic dystopian novel that subtly pays homage to many works published before of the same genre without being obvious. It is meta in many ways, futuristic, unrealistic, yet completely possible as a future for our demise as a human race, ignoring climate change. The narrator is unique, and the last pages will turn the entire novel into some

Netgalley Read GIVE UP THE NIGHT releases next April 2025. I have been waiting for this one with excitement since the cliffhanger ending. Volume 2 picks up from the same moment, and then it's a non-stop hard to put down high stakes, time-sensitive race with very few allies. ___ ℕ𝕖𝕨 𝕐𝕠𝕣𝕜 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖𝕤 𝕓𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕣𝕤 ℙ.ℂ. My 7 reasons to read this series Paperback Release of Devil's Gun Book 2 by Cat Rambo. 1. Found Family on a quest 2. Sentient space ship 3. Diverse characters (even aliens) 4. Have I mentioned Thing the Sentient AI ship 🩷 5. Fast pace, Action Adventure 6. Nasty villain (general violence more in book 1 less and more emotional in book 2) 7. Great balance between sad/emotional scenes and humor It's a Disco Space Opera and I am a fan. Book 2 is my favorite volume so far because

My review Book Tour... stop... theme park... My review: 5 Love the cover and their names as titles of each chapter. The font is very pretty. Teens decide to go to an abandoned theme park where an unexplainable massacre occurred a few years back. At first, I thought this was going to be one more for the genre, but this author pushed the tropes and the classics, adding new layers and giving a refreshing spin. Things I can't resist: haunted themed park, group of characters (diff

Weekend Read. I am so grateful that B&N re-opened in Chicago. I was so sad to see all the stores gone. One just opened this past Wednesday, and the second will open on June 26th. Very happy. 4.75 stars I couldn't resist jumping into this book as a huge fan of survival novels, nature vs. men. James Patterson takes Michael Crichton's manuscript into a thrilling non-stop adventure to the islands of Hawaii. The big one will erupt soon, but that is not the only concern it may end

What I read this weekend: Thank you @wednesdaybooks and @minotaur_books for these copies #smpinfluencers ❓️Do you read more during the weekend or the week? 💚My Trilogy for June is: #Noumena 1. Foul Days release is Jun 25th and book 2 will come out this next October 2024. 😊My review 5 stars A fun complex world rich in Slavic folklore. During Foul Days, the monsters are out, and in a series of events, Kosara loses her shadow, which can be a dead sentence to a witch. The book takes a moment to pick up, but once Kosara partners with a cop from the "other" side of the wall, we can't put it down. Their partnership is hilarious. They embark on an action adventure, unlike

High Fantasy Framing Narrative #netgalley @torbooks 👉Review: Just noticed this book is book 2 when I hit 30% and checked Amazon. So, decided to pause this one and listen to a copy of the book 1 audiobook. I already know I'll like it well enough to return to book 2. The framing narrative works for me and I could have read volume 2 well enough without book 1 (was already into the characters), the author's style is consistent, but I love an origin story (the younger years) and

Review of Spindle and Dagger: Historical Fiction 5 🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡 I love how this author writes historical fiction. She brings forward elements that important chronicles and historical books leave out, like exploring what could have been the part played or the influence and importance of unsung women's acts, plans, and ideas in famous History. Spindle and Dagger is one of those. Wales in 1109 is a cruel man's world of war and takers keepers, and Elen uses a Saint's blessing story

A wonderful start to a new series for Robert Jackson Bennet author of the Founders Trilogy and The Divine Cities. I love his creative writing and world-building. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This is a murder mystery but in an amazing world. I loved the arc so much that I pre-ordered the book and got a pre-order gift (3 prints). My review: I'm already addicted to this series its characters, and world. A murder mystery novel with the classical vibes of the great murder mystery novels but with fantasti

My review 5 plus This is one of my first 2024 reads and turned out to be one of my favorite fantasy series that is middle-grade but will please readers of all ages who love the coming-of-age story of a dragon meeting his rider, and not a portal fantasy. Plus, it's more than one POV and has a great creative take on how dragons are born, how the world deals with magic, and how to pick riders. The relationship between the rider and dragon, or the young girl searching for her r
