4 stars This was so sweet. Inspiring, and uplifting end. A journey of self-discovery and acceptance. I appreciate that the author included the grandmother's pain of no longer being able to drive, losing a part of her. The art is large, inviting, and fun. 🥰I ran to buy this one, volume 2 of Oddities by Eli Brown. It's black and white illustrated and very beautiful series for #mglit and up #fantast #historicalfantasy #parallelworld 5 stars So cool. I love this world and the characters. A group of Oddities (women with powers/magic) fights the Vermin (undead constructs, half machines/half animals, horrible monsters) from terrorizing the United States (a parallel historical steampunk world that is being attacked by Emperor Bonapa

Halo New Blood Simon and Schuster Audio here. 4 stars A novel by Matt Forbeck set in the Halo universe focuses on Halo 3's character Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck. This volume works as a bridge between the events of Halo 3 and Halo 4 (the period after the Human-Covenant War, where the Master Chief is listed as MIA and the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) is in the process of forming a new generation of Spartans). Buck PoV recounts his military career, including his time as

Last time I reviewed A Human Element (perfect for dark thriller readers - adult), and while you are meeting these three unforgettable characters, your little ones are meeting other fantastic ones with the Andrews McMeel trilogy Epic: Unicorn Island Trilogy. If you don't know, Loon Cove Summer is an amazing Summer Camp read, and the characters will capture adults and young readers. Not only is the main character dealing with grief and the loss of a parent, but she will do all

Pub Date Sep 02 2025 Tor Publishing Group | Tor Books You Like Them Sci Fi & Fantasy 5 for the complexity Amazing surreal magic realism, dark mystery, fantasy. I can't even settle on one single word to describe it. Complex, lyrical, and mindblowing. The best way I can describe it is that we experience it from the first time the Pov of the supernatural perspective instead of having a character suffer supernatural things that they can't explain. I appreciate that the author inc

Peaches: 4 stars We are a family of gamers (we use them for family time and do things together, usually co-op), so we love this one. Plus… It’s super cute. Kawaiii. Not too many pages, under 100, and with sweet illustrations and less text than a heavy graphic novel. Missing old friends, new friendships, connections, contemporary and modern themes. I love the Brawl-mania chapters where they all come together as a team. It’s important to keep communication going to avoid misund

Finally finished The River is Waiting. This is the kind of book that I need to be mentally prepared to jump into. It starts with a terrible accident, and the author guides us through the steps of so many emotions, reactions, and heartbreaking scenes. This is through the father's point of view, although we have chapters that are from the mother's perspective, it is mainly his. Themes explored: substance abuse, usability to cope with events in life and depression without substa

Awesome premise, amazing art, high-quality printing. I loved that the toys can talk and visit parallel worlds. If you have been following me for quite some time, you know exactly why. Discovering new worlds that include zombies, robots, and amazing, famous characters from legends to find survivors and fight a Big Nemesis (named Snuggles) is my jam. Perfect to gift and collect. This is volume 1, and I can recommend it enough. Mike, you will love this one, but I'm betting you a

I had already read volume 1 and now I won volume 2 in a Goodreads Giveaway Book 2 will be released August 5 by Dutton Books (Penguin Random House) Start with Hiroshima here. 5 stars This is an amazing duology. The author was very respectful of the history but also of the people. My favorite aspect is that he worked with them and wasn't just giving his perspective of the event. No. This is a work driven by the people's testimonies, their memories, their experience. It's not ab

4.5 Holy Cow, so creepy, and the end was amazing. There is no way to review this book without giving spoilers. A family fosters a "feral child" and there is no turning back. If this makes a movie one day, I will have to watch it with company, ahah, and not at night. A terrifying new novel from bestselling #HorrorBookTok sensation Ania Ahlborn—the acclaimed author of the modern classic Brother. Hailed as a writer of “some of the most promising horror I’ve encountered in years”

As you know I found a tattered World War Z copy without the jackdust cover and I love this book so I decided to revamp it. Painted the edges with orange then drew the rest inspired by the movie's poster, and got some fabric to make the rest. I used foil for the Font the Z is shiny but doesn't show well. I'll make a video with more books painted when I make more. This is not to sell; it's something to help me have fun during overwhelming days while listening to audiobooks. Nex
