CHAPEL OF THE FALCON... Dark Fantasy novella (a collection of dark short stories from prolific author Matt Spencer). This is a no Scooby Doo ending novellas. There is always a paranormal element and some unexplainable events. Rich, complex plots, with vivid imagery, dark events, lots of characters, and great writing.
"When he tongues his teeth, the back ones moved like fence posts in mud."
In my favorite one, the one showing on the cover, there is a murder mystery that will lead the green lady and our mc directly into the demons' lair. Awesome action, and if in one novel is in Victorian London, the next we can be in more recent times during Hurricane Irene.
Women are usually characters of power or mystical forces who are followed or aided by loyal warriors or demons. My second fav novella is Diary of a Demon from the summoning day...
There are dragons, deep philosophical thoughts, quests, satire, and more, making this book rich and diverse in themes and genres.
Dark humor: "Here was a neck that could only be improved with a slice."
5 stars. Check out this author.

Whitechapel, 1886:As proprietor of the Devil's Draft pub, Frederick Hawthorne's made all sorts of friends and enemies...not all of them exactly human. Least of all whatever haunts the crumbling old countryside chapel where he's found himself, or the winged green lady who keeps turning up everywhere he goes. At least she seems to be on his side, which is a good thing, considering they've both just walked into the middle of a vicious feud stretching all the way back to the witch trials of the seventeenth century.
And six more sharp-toothed tales of demons, dragons, red-handed outlaws, and other travelers of worlds and ages.
* Includes an introduction by best-selling award-winning fantasy author Anna Smith Spark.
