Just had the most exciting e-meeting to preview the catalog for Summer and Fall of Candlewick Press/Holiday House and PeechTeen
Here are some highlights (some I've already had the pleasure of reading the advance copy)

Interrupting Chicken Raises Her Wing
David Ezra Stein, David Ezra Stein (Illustrated by)
On Sale Date: Oct 13, 2026
4.5 Stars
Delightful visit to the museum of art with a pertinent lesson. Our little chicken is learning with her usual enthusiasm. I loved the scribbles where she complains about her day, but then she finally gets one right by mistake. Hilarious one. She tries and tries, but never gets the rule right. The pages are well designed with great artwork. Love this series.

Fourteen Ways of Looking at Jellyfish
Carole Boston Weatherford, Bagram Ibatoulline (Illustrated by)
On Sale Date: May 26, 2026
5 Stars
The artwork for this one is amazing. I wasn't expecting such variety and to learn more. As a Portuguese, Jellyfish are my favorite to see in the aquarium, because we have one named after us. It doesn't mean it's the only one we love to see, draw, and watch for hours as it swims in the darkness. It's the best part of the aquarian, although we love it when they are free, and many times we swim with them at the beach. We had no idea they were older than the dinosaurs, and so many species existed. I am so glad this book also has extra facts, legends across the world, and historical characters that contributed to the knowledge we have of jellyfish today. All in a simple but easy-to-understand format. P.S The double pages showcasing in detail each species are breathtaking.

Fairy Door Diaries: Eliza and the Fairy Double
Megan McDonald, Lenny Wen (Illustrated by)
On Sale Date: Sep 15, 2026
4.5 So glad to return to the Other Side and see so many creatively designed elves. The floating hats are so fun that we can search for them on the illustrated pages before they reveal themselves in a whimsical art style. We'll never think of hicups the same way again, we'll be looking for elves in mirrors and in tiny doors, that may need our help. Visiting the Other Side is always an opportunity to explore creativity, colors, and friends. Do we have a double fairy as well? We should try to draw them. What a switcharoo this was, trying to discover where the real one was took effort and a lot of heart.
