When Niil Terra sets off to find his missing parents, he ends up in Caput Mundi, the dazzling Empire where innovation flourishes and alchemic wonders fill the streets. It is also the home of enarii, a shape-shifting metal that can be willed into anything—swords, forks, even fly swatters. Anything you can imagine, if you have the talent.
And Niil, it turns out, has talent like no one else.
For the first time in his life, he has friends, a future, and a place where he belongs. But secrets about enarii—and about his parents—begin to surface, and Niil must choose between the belonging he's always dreamed of and a truth that could cost him everything.
Caput Mundi: The Head of the World is a hopepunk middle grade fantasy adventure for ages 9–12 about friendship, courage, and refusing to look away.

3 stars
The ideas and concept, the magic system and world, having enarii as a shapeshifting substance than we can mold into anything but also use as currency is cool. Stats slow and the main character is passive at the start, being part of the audience rather than affecting the world and taking decision until he goes on a journey. I love how Niil is always protecting flowers and nature, he is a true green thumb at heart. Fun adventure to tag along Niil and Ada, with great values.
It's a good fantasy world adventure, volume one of a series (non-portal) that younger readers and fantasy beginners will appreciate.
