Five Days at Hotel Adams
4.5
An historical fiction series with high educational values. Apart from taking us to Arizona 1910 we get two girls solving a mystery and trying to stop a fire from happening at the hotel where they live. Although they come from different life situations they had a lot of relatable issues. One is an employer, the other a guest, they both love solving a good mystery and are both homescholled (for different reasons). The novel speaks of many political, social, economical (in general society and way of living and dealing with things, actions, doing right thing or not. It's a starting point for investigation and learning more about the period. The activities provided by tye publisher are interesting and an extra layer for studies. Example: writing a journal/diary page, or creating a limerick poem. Great for a comparison of before or now to discuss in the classroom the different perspectives as well.
