Review: 4.5 stars 🌟
I appreciate the absurdity. The artwork is amazing, and the high quality of the edition is impressive. The duo Esmeranda and Jack is the best among the great cast of characters. Fast-paced and easy to follow. A sci-fi graphic novel with a lot of humor. After the Amethyst incident, some people gained the ability to create groundbreaking scientific and engineering wonders. Years after the incident, a new breed of superpower heroes and villains surges in L.A. To address this chaos, a new division of the LAPD, called the Mad Scientist Division, tries its best to fight it, led by Esmeralda Villanueva and Jack Mantle. We have diverse characters, I mean, super creative design, flashback stories to complement the plot, amazing page and panel design, and hybrids bring forward relatable issues with humor and some gore eheh. Each chapter deals with a different case or short story related to a hybrid. Adding those manga characters in black and white was a great idea. Includes extra art at the end.
"Super Science is a sci-fi/comedy original graphic novel about a world where the limits of human imagination have become real and a global phenomenon grants ordinary people extraordinary scientific powers.
Now, amidst a surge of emerging superheroes and supervillains, LAPD's 'Super Science Division,' led by no-nonsense Sergeant Esmeralda Villanueva and her idealistic partner, Officer Jack Mantel, must navigate the chaos.
With a mix of sharp humor and high-stakes adventure, the story unfolds against the iconic sprawl of Los Angeles, where manipulative industrialists, unlikely heroes, and a clash between genius and disaster collide—unleashing a sci-fi spectacle of comedy, madness, and unexpected heroism that’s bound to captivate and amuse."
