"...when you're on your own, it sometimes takes great courage to keep going. But it's also okay if you turn away from it."

The desert was a great mystical setting to pick.

I liked the size of this one because it's satisfying, and we can finish it in one day. A great read for the beach, or fall entry for those already in the fall mood. Fast-paced, multiple POV, I liked the main character (female one) a lot. She struggles with the loss of Gabriel, and the upcoming events help her not only deal with it but also take steps forward. It's quite interesting that the author made me look at religion and magic, as hope and something that could bring fear, but also answers when we are living such cynical times. If I could live in a world made by my mind, I would be tempted to let my mind go there and stay.

Interesting twist in the last chapter.

"Nothing is all there is."
