Had a great Sunday with this book. Brazilian mythology and lore, family and culture (even yummy food, Deus eu tenho saudades de feijoada) bringing forward guardians of the Amazon Forest. What looked like a Fabergé egg was, in fact an unmatched amazing (huge) Boitata, a serpent guardian of the Amazon. Not only did Sergio hatch far far away, but his rider (Aurelia) a Portuguese descendant who never had the chance to learn to speak Portuguese, quickly reconnects with her family and origins, learning the truth about her parents' death.

She travels to Brazil with her older sister and meets amazing characters (family) and some villains too (greedy uncles, claro) . Loved the scene where she rides Sergio for the first time it was hilarious. Marcos is an awesome kid as well.
